Griffin Vehicle Mounted Digital Frequency Jammer
The new Griffin Vehicle Mounted Digital Jamming system is the most sophisticated system designed specifically for vehicle-mounted use to protect top level VIPs from possible radio controlled bomb devices.
The Griffin transmits powerful broadband jamming signals covering the frequencies between 20MHz up to 2.5GHz using the latest digital technology that surpasses the performance of analogue systems. The Direct Digital Synthesis (DDS) technique allows for the use of energy efficient counter measures and provides greater range for lower overall output power. The Griffin causes nearby receivers and transmitters to become either inactive or to activate prematurely at a safe distance – usually at least 250-350 metres from the target, depending on the power of the activation transmitter and the relative distances involved. As the Griffin is a digital system it is highly flexible, for example, fully adjustable communication “windows” can be programmed into the hand-held controller in a matter of seconds and the signal power can be concentrated into particular spot frequencies if required.
The Griffin has been introduced primarily to provide additional cell phone jamming, including 3G and Wireless LAN as a counter-measure to the increased incidence of terrorists using cell phone infrastructure to detonate remote control bombs.
- More accurate signal control;
- Concentrates power in the threat bands;
- Additional cell phone channels centred at 915, 1800 and 2140MHz
- Dedicated cell phone channel antennas
- Direct digital synthesis control
Specifications
- Frequency coverage: 20MHz – 2500MHz in 11 independent bands:- 20-80MHz, 80-200MHz, 200-500MHz (Dual Channel), 500-975MHz, 975-1450MHz, 1450-1925MHz, 1925-2400MHz, 900GSM Band, 1800GSM Band and the 2.4GHz WLAN Band;
- Each Channel has its own source amplifiers and antenna;

The photographs below show the various components comprising the Griffin Jammer system to enable a full evaluation of what will be installed on the vehicle. In certain case enclosures can be altered to client specifications or requirements by prior agreement with Westminster International Ltd.
This photograph shows this being achieved using a standard roof transport case, providing as covert an assembly as possible.
If desired and depending on vehicle used, this case can be modified providing the ground plane and separation requirements are maintained.
The next photograph shows twin whip antennas attached to a Landrover Discovery. These whip antennas are what we would recommend for a fixed vehicle installation.
To enable jamming of frequencies above 500 MHz including GSM, WLAN and 3G it is essential that the antennas used for this are securely housed, maintaining the same ground plane and also at the correct relative position to provide 360 degree coverage.
This photograph shows a typical installation of the Griffin in a car, which is not common but depending on vehicle is achievable, enabling VVIP teams to have alternative transport if required.
The final photograph shows a typical complete installation in a 4X4 vehicle. This photo does not show the whip antennas as an alternative system was used in this vehicle.
