Biometric Identity Verification Systems - Scan-IDT
OVERVIEW
The Westminster Scan-IDT system is a flexible, low cost and hugely
adaptable biometric identity verification system developed for banks,
financial institutions, border control and other institutions where rapid
and accurate identification of a person is required.
The Scan-IDT system is a modular and fully expandable I.D. system
and incorporates Westminster Technologies' 'Flexybase' software which
enables solutions and databases to be easily configured to clients exact
requirements without costly programming changes.
The Scan-IDT system is available in four basic versions:
Scan-ID-sT
Scan-ID-sT is an innovative cost effective entry level solution
which allows individuals to be rapidly and accurately identified.
The system utilises a specially encrypted low cost I.D. card onto
which is printed relevant personal information including a photograph.
This information is securely encrypted within a two dimensional code
(2D bar code) on a special datastrip upon the card.
Alternatively the system is able to 'read' most national passports
(refer to Westminster for further information).
The Scan-ID-sT system is extremely quick and simple to use and is
entirely stand alone in operation, thereby enabling use in isolated
and remote areas.
The system provides a high degree of security and integrity to the
client and institution alike and 2D bar codes cannot easily be compromised, unlike
ordinary laminated or photographic I.D. cards, - all at a cost
significantly cheaper than other technologies such as Mag-stripe or
Smart cards for example.
To use the system a client or customer simply presents their card
to a Scan-IDT reader and the details will be instantly displayed upon
the operators console. Verification of identity is simply a matter
of checking the displayed information against the subject in person -
safe, quick and reliable.
Scan-ID-fT
The Scan-ID-fT system contains all the advantages of the Scan-ID-sT
system above but in addition the datastrip contains encoded information
of the individual's 'finger print'.
To use the system a client or customer simply presents their card
as before but at this stage only 'unconfimed' details will appear.
The client then places a finger on a small finger print reader at the
counter and if the image matches that stored upon the card, the screen
will show a 'verified' status.
The Scan-ID-fT system therefore provides all the advantages of
speed and low cost of the Scan-ID-sT system but provides a higher
degree of security and verification for more sensitive situations.
Scan-ID-cT
The Scan-ID-cT system provides all the security features of the
Scan-ID-fT but holds the database of information centrally upon the
operator terminal, including the 'finger print' image.
In this configuration the system may be used either with or without
the card as all the verification data resides upon the operator terminal
in an encrypted and extremely secure format.
The major advantage with this system is that once an individual
has been registered onto the system they do not need to rely upon
carrying an I.D. card, as the Westminster 'Flexybase' software is
fully searchable.
To use the system a client or customer simply uses an Scan-I.DT
card or informs the operator of their name/address etc and then uses
the 'finger print' I.D. reader to verify the information - very simple
and user friendly.
Scan-ID-netT
The Scan-ID-netT is quite simply a fully networkable upgrade version
of the Scan-ID-cT system above.
The advantage of this system is that data can be shared between
branches or regions etc. and would be suitable for clients or customers
who travel extensively or institutions requiring central control of
data and more detailed report and analysis of activity.
Data may be shared over Local or Wide Area Networks and is
supported by Windows NT Server
