Typical Deployment of PULSAR-3D
A typical deployment of a PULSAR-3D system in a small harbour (example area 1000m distance x 800m) will have the following layout: -
- 1 PULSAR-3D Diver Detection Sonar situated to cover maximum area with maximum advanced warning of threat;
- 2 PULSAR-3D Enforcer Array units to provide the operator with the ability to communicate to an intruder that enters the harbour area;
- 2 PULSAR-3D Echoscope units located at the harbour entrance.
As soon as the diver detection sonar has detected the presence of a target (let’s assume for example, that it is a terrorist entering the area in stealth mode trying to evade classification), the operator is alerted to the targets presence. Immediately, he is able to view in real time, the diver on the PULSAR-3D Video Imaging monitor. The operator will then be able to see the target as being a diver (even though the diver detection sonar has not classified the target).
The operator can then communicate directly to the intruder and relay instructions for him to leave the area. If the diver does not cooperate, the operator can then re-issue instructions, or activate the diver disruption system which has specific engineered frequencies that are designed to disorientate and disrupt a diver to either enforce him to retreat, or to surface. The intruder can then be apprehended if necessary by an security interception team.
This comprehensive system ensures the highest level of security so that successful defence and security of the harbour can be maintained.
PULSAR-3D DIVER DETECTION
The PULSAR-3D Diver Detection Sonar provides exceptionally high resolution, 3 dimensional, 360 degree detection, covering an area of up to 1.6Km for the detection of a diver.
The system is able to perform the following tasks:
- Detection of divers, swimmers and swimmer delivery vehicles (SDV) in automatic and manual modes;
- Automatic target tracking;
- Depth classification of detected targets;
- Determination of target data like bearing, range, course, depth, speed, aspect angle, length and level;
- Display of processed detection and classification echoes together or alternative to acoustic ”raw” data;
- Display of tactical information on the surveillance display with graphical picture of the protected area, sector coverage of the sonar head, target markers, track symbols, track history;
- Interfaces to external communication and radar equipment (option);
- Guiding of a patrol boat with the underwater attack force to the location of the intruder;
- Initiating an electronic countermeasure (low frequency high power sources).
