bullet Baggage X-Ray & Gamma Monitoring introduction page

For more than 100 years X-ray technology has been instrumental in exposing details hidden from the human eye. Radiation, detection and image processing technologies instantly deliver superb images of scanned objects whilst maintaining the highest possible level of operator safety.

These days security means more than just surveillance equipment to monitor your facility . You need to screen visitors to make sure they are not carrying contraband or weapons and for greater security, you may also need to screen your incoming packages and mail.

The ability to detect explosives, narcotics and weapons has become increasingly important to your security.

baggage x-rayThe threats posed by terrorists' use of explosives and by narcotics trafficking differ in significant ways. The bombing of an aircraft is still a rare event, but the consequences are catastrophic. By contrast, narcotics trafficking is a frequent occurrence and a single shipment has far different consequences than an aircraft bombing.

X-Ray machines are a perfect solution for the quick but thorough inspection of baggage and other materials for firearms and other weapons. An X-Ray system in conjunction with a good metal detection system is likely to let little pass unnoticed.

Radiation Detection - Gamma Monitors

These units can be used to search for, detect, and locate radioactive and nuclear materials in a variety of situations. To reduce both the possibility of terrorist acts using such materials and the illicit transportation of these materials across borders.

Any attempt to illegally transport nuclear materials, such as Uranium and Plutonium, are of particular concern. A small amount of these materials may not be sufficient to make a nuclear weapon but could be enough to make a "dirty" bomb. A terrorist act using such a weapon would have catastrophic effects.

A dirty bomb, also known as a radiological weapon, is a conventional explosive such as dynamite packaged with radioactive material that scatters when the bomb goes off. A dirty bomb kills or injures through the initial blast of the conventional explosive and by airborne radiation and contamination hence the term dirty. Such bombs could be miniature devices or as big as a truck bomb.

In many cases, the gamma units can detect the materials due to the gamma radiation. However, the gamma radiation can easily be shielded by materials such as lead, which significantly reduces the probability of detecting the source materials.

  • Baggage X-ray
    • PX-M
The PX-M provides superior image resolution for high confidence
detection applications. The 606 mm (24") wide by 506 mm (20")
high tunnel opening was specifically designed to allow common
items like infant/child safety seats, carry-on luggage, and
      packages to be easily scanned.
    • LS 107
The LS 107 is a large X-ray security screening system with
a tunnel opening of 1011 mm (39.8") wide by 1011 mm (39.8") high.
It is ideal for screening very large luggage, parcels, boxes and
      crates.
    • LS 112
The LS 112 is a large X-ray security screening system with
a low conveyor belt for convenient loading of large items. With
a tunnel opening of 650mm wide x 812mm high the LS 112 is
ideal for screening large pieces of checked luggage and boxes.
    • LS 208
The LS 208 is an X-ray security screening system with a
tunnel opening of 826mm wide by 654mm high. This unique tunnel
size combined with a conveyor height of 635mm makes the LS
208 ideal for screening checked baggage, boxes and packages.
    • LS 215
The LS 215 is an X-ray security screening system with a
compact design, suitable for use where space is limited. With a
tunnel opening of 610mm wide by 468mm high, the LS 215 is
ideal for the screening of briefcases and packages.
    • LS 222
The LS 222 is a very compact, table-top, X-ray security
screening system. With a tunnel opening of 521mm wide by 327mm
high, the LS 222 is ideal for the screening of small bags,
      briefcases and mail.
    • LS 231
The LS 231 is a large X-ray security screening system with
a tunnel opening of 1000mm wide by 800mm high. The LS 231
can accommodate large luggage, parcels and boxes, typical of
      checked baggage at an airport.
    • LS 237
The LS 237 is a large X-ray security screening system with
a tunnel opening of 1000mm wide by 800mm high. The system can
accommodate out-of-gauge luggage, parcels and boxes, typical of
      checked baggage at an airport.
    • LS 239
The LS 239 is a large X-ray security screening system with a
tunnel opening of 1.2 m(47.2") wide by 1 m high (39.4"). The LS
239 can accommodate large luggage, parcels and boxes, typical of
      checked baggage at an airport.
    • VIS108
