About the Role

PLC Company is looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Part-Time Accounts Assistant to join our friendly and supportive finance team. This role offers flexible working arrangements, ideal for those balancing childcare, education, or other personal commitments.

Working approximately 22 to 25 hours per week, the exact schedule will be agreed upon during the interview to suit both business needs and the successful candidate. This is a great opportunity for someone with proven accounting experience who wants to develop their skills further in a supportive environment.

You will assist with day-to-day accounting tasks such as processing invoices, maintaining purchase and sales ledgers, making payments and transfers banking, bank reconciliations, credit control, and supporting month-end activities.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting Support:

  • Process purchase and sales invoices accurately and timely.
  • Assist with supplier payments, including making payments and transfers and managing banking transactions.
  • Invoice coding and maintaining supplier and customer records.

Bank Reconciliations:

  • Support the preparation of bank reconciliations across multiple accounts.
  • Record banking transactions promptly and accurately, including payments and transfers banking.

Credit Control:

  • Assist with chasing overdue payments and managing customer queries.
  • Help issue invoices and credit notes as required.

Month-End Assistance:

  • Support month-end closing activities including journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Assist with intercompany reconciliations.
  • Help prepare basic accounting reports.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes.
  • Support system improvements, especially within Business Central or similar software.
Key Requirements

Experience & Skills:

  • Proven accounting experience is essential.
  • Sound understanding of basic accounting principles, including double-entry bookkeeping.
  • Familiarity with purchase and sales ledger functions, payments and transfers banking, bank reconciliations, and credit control.
  • Good numerical and organisational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word; experience with Business Central or similar ERP systems advantageous but not required.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow processes accurately.

  • Self-motivated and eager to learn.
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills and a positive attitude.

Working Hours

  • Part-time role: Approximately 22 to 25 hours per week with flexible scheduling to support work-life balance.
